Top NewsInterview With Tom Tancredo 396 days 5 hours 37 minutes agoI was approached with the unique opportunity to interview Presidential contender, Mr. Tom Tancredo. I had more questions, but due to the hectic schedule of campaigning for Mr. Tancredo we had to shorten it down to a few questions. However, it is an honor to have this privilege and I have been given more opportunities for possible interviews in the future. Below, are my questions and Mr. Tancredo’s answers. I am not ready to endorse and candidate at this point, but I will say that Mr. Tancredo is one of my favorites. I appreciate Mr. Tancredo for taking the time to answer my questions and his blogger, Mike Tate, for making this opportunity possible for us.
Here’s the responses:
1. Lets start with an easy one. What do you feel is the most important issue facing America today and what do you offer in helping to face this challenge?
America knows this one by now: immigration. As President I will grant no amnesty to those who broke our laws, prosecute employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens, and require legal status for anyone receiving drivers licenses, welfare, non-emergency healthcare. I will encourage assimilation of legal immigrants and eliminate taxpayer funded crutches for those who do not learn English, such as bilingual education options available in public schools and on ballots.
2. Many are of the opinion that the Democrats took over both Houses due to ignoring the important issue of border control. Do you believe this played a major part or is this issue more complicated?
In 2006, many Democrats that defeated Republicans had immigration platforms as tough as mine. Consider the many Democrats in 2006 that ran on border enforcement and no amnesty platforms. Democratic Congressman Heath Shuler defeated an incumbent Republican with such positions as: “Illegal immigration costs American taxpayers approximately $70 billion a year in financial assistance for welfare benefits, health care, education and domestic crime-fighting. I do not support granting amnesty to people who have broken the law.” J.D. Hayworth — I know you all remember him — was defeated by Democratic Harry Mitchell, who has this on his website: “Every sovereign nation has a responsibility to secure its border. In Congress, I’ll make it a top priority to secure the U.S.-Mexico border and stop illegal immigration.” The list goes on and can include Montana Senator Jon Tester and Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill. Democrats won because Republicans ignored the issue for too many years.
3. While immigration is a very important issue, many people think your focus in this area makes you appear as a one issue candidate. Please explain some of the other important strengths that you will bring to America as our leader.
I am a lifelong conservative that has advanced my reputation as a solid pro-life, pro-gun, small government Republican. I have consistently championed conservative principles that strengthen America.
Once again I want to thank Mr. Tancredo and his blogger Mike Tate for this opportunity. Hopefully there will be more in the near future. Make sure to visit Tancredo’s Official Campaign Blog today where Mike Tate will be live blogging the debate behind-the-scenes!

A Short (Pictorial) History of Time 396 days 7 hours 34 minutes ago
I’m always eager to know more about my environment and how it’s affecting my body. Dealing with health is usually a micro-environmental sort of topic, but sometimes it pays to see the big-picture. In any case, knowledge is never a bad thing: Here is a very cool, scale model of the universe from The Smoot Group. It’s in “4-D”. Meaning that time is a parameter you can “see”.
Professor George Smoot’s group conducts research on the early Universe (cosmology) using the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) and other astrophysical sources. These investigations are directed towards realizing a variety of science goals regarding cosmology.
Now, that guy that cut you off on the way in, this morning, doesn’t seem like such a big deal anymore, does he? Thinking about stuff like this actually helps melt my silly little problems away. Which is always a good thing, considering stress can kill you.

ON AN INTERESTING VISTA LAPTOP...FINALLY 396 days 11 hours 37 minutes ago
ABOUT TIME
(Update: Apple also announced updated MacBook Pro laptops today, with the 15-inch model also sporting an LED-enhanced screen. The new models still dont offer an integrated WWAN wireless network option for high-speed wireless data access.)
Its almost coming up to six months since the release of Windows Vista, and we still dont have a desktop or a
laptop with the new OS on it. For those of you who know me, thats pretty unusual. At the very least, its an impressive bit of self-restraint, if I do say so myself.
Like so many others, Ive been waiting for the Service Packs thatll fix the early version of Windows Vista, including updated drivers that finally offer some speed and performance advantages over Windows XP based machines.
But today, I read about the first laptop that could break my self-imposed restraint in Engadget. I agree with them when they say: "Weve got the scoop on some early marketing materials / renders for
Dell XPS m1330, and we have to say, this is as impressed as weve ever
been with a Dell laptop. Check it out:
- 13.3-inch screen, configurable with LED backlight! (300cd/m2, or 220 with CCFL backlight)
- Core 2 Duo processor (up to 2.4GHz), Santa Rosa chipset (965PM/GM)
- Up to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM
- 32GB SSD drive or spinning-platter drive options up to 250GB
- Slot-loading dual-layer DVD±RW drive!
- Optional NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS / 128MB
- WWAN option for Verizon, Sprint, or AT&T
- Ethernet, 802.11a, a/g, or n options, Bluetooth option
- Integrated 2 megapixel webcam (VGA only on LED-backlit display)
- HDMI, VGA, 1394, (2) USB 2.0, integrated media reader (MS, SD, xD), dual mini-PCI slots, fingerprint reader
- Dimensions
with LED 12.5 x 9.4 x 0.87 - 1.33-inches (318 x 238 x 22.1 - 33.8mm) /
with CCFL 12.5 x 9.4 x 0.97 - 1.43-inches (318 x 238 x 24.6 - 36.3mm)
- Weight starts at 4 pounds"
The key features that Ive been waiting for here, are the LED backlight and the Santa Rosa processor, not to mention the 250 GB drive in a 4 pound machine.
Now I realize that Dell may make this laptop available with either Vista or XP installed, as they do on their current line of XPS desktops and laptops. So its not just a "Vista laptop".
No word on when the thing will actually be available, but it sure does look tempting.
